Purpose of the Festival
This event was originally conceived
to showcase arts and technologies related to wind. After the events
that impacted America so deeply, many people felt more urgently
than ever the need to develop more constructive interaction with
the world around us. Thinking of "wind" metaphorically,
we expanded our theme to "Winds of Innovation...Winds
of Change"to be more inclusive.
Our mission is to bring open, creative people
together with art, ideas and technologies that will inspire and
combine to bring positive effects to our social and physical environment.
We have been encouraged by the many small and large positive efforts
around us and hope this can be forum for many more
The unique, exciting art and technology
features we have been so fortunate to have committed will
draw an interested and involved audience.Often the great leaps
in technology have come through people outside of existing disciplines,
being unfettered by boundaries that have already been set in an
established industry. The Festival will provide an opportunity
for an ongoing forum for the exchange of ideas and a network of
both innovative companies and individuals.

Sponsors can benefit in may ways
from participating and supporting the Festival. The Festival of the
Winds has captured the imagination of the media and the enthusiasm
of educators even in its early stages of development. Both national
and regional sponsors will enjoy the marketing exposure generated
by association with this event. See Page: "Summary & Sponsorship"
The Festival
host and site is Chanslor
Ranch, a spectacular, scenic and windswept coastal hillside
location in Northern California, 1-1/2 hours north of San Francisco,
one mile north of the town of Bodega Bay. www.chanslorranch.com/ This 700
acre ranch is home to a wetlands wildlife sanctuary and
a future educational and bird rehabilitation facility that will
be the beneficiary of the festival. www.sonomawetlands.org
Location
North of the scenic fishing village of Bodega Bay
on Highway 1 overlooking the Salmon Creek State Beach, Chanslor
Ranch is also host to the Bodega Bay Seafood Festival in August.
In town there are many fishing and whale-watching charter boat services.
May is still whale-watching season, when the huge mammals are returning
to their Arctic feeding waters. Rugged cliffs, arch rocks, tide
pools, beaches and Redwood punctuated hills grace the wild
coast for miles northward. http://www.visitsonomacoast.com/
Located in Sonoma County's wine country, we are able to enhance
the atmosphere of the festival with wonderful wines and gourmet
food provided for your pleasure by talented chefs, caterers
and restaurants. Bodega Bay has charming lodging and fine seafood
dining, the myriad pleasures of the wine country begin just
a short ways inland.
The Bodega Bay Festival of the Winds is presented in the springtime,
when beautiful wildflowers and grasses, encouraged by the fragrant
ocean mists, cover the hillsides and pastures of the coast.
Concept and Event Production
The Bodega Bay Festival of the Winds was conceived
by Abby Myers, Environmental Consultant for Chanslor Ranch Wetlands
Project. The Festival is produced by the Festival of the Winds
Association, Wind-fx Group.
Group members have over 20 years of experience
in producing advertising promotions and trade shows for companies
such as IBM, Mobil Oil, Mastercard, Pacific Bell, Morton Salt,
Bank of America and John Hancock Insurance.
Involvement in promotion of the arts in the
community and environmental benefits have inspired this event.
Concern for the future of energy resources and production in California
and the United States has fueled the creation and expansion of
the festival. We are thankful for the enthusiasm and early support
generated for the festival from diverse sources.
